UOB Heartbeat Run/Walk 2013
RULES AND REGULATIONS
The UOB Heartbeat Run/Walk 2013 (the Event) is organised by United Overseas Bank Limited (UOB) and ESG Endurance Sport Pte Ltd (the Organisers).
Participants must register for the Event at www.uobheartbeat.sg by 21 May 2013, 7pm.
UOB will accept the Participant’s registration only after completion of the online registration form and the Participant’s indication of their agreement to abide by these Rules and Regulations.
By registering, Participants represent that they are medically fit to participate in the Event.
Event entry is strictly non-transferable.
Participants below the age of 16 are required to seek parental/guardian consent and fill in the relevant indemnity and declaration portions when registering online, failing which, the Organisers reserve the right to refuse entry to that Participant.
The Participant must provide true, accurate, current and complete information about the Participant in the online registration form. If a Participant provides any information that is untrue, inaccurate, not current or incomplete, or if UOB has grounds to suspect that such information is untrue, inaccurate, not current or incomplete, UOB may suspend or terminate the Participant’s registration without reason.
Registration submitted after the closing date will not be accepted.
- Health and Safety
While reasonable precaution will be taken by the Organisers to ensure the Participants’ safety, Participants take part at their own risk and the Organisers shall not be liable to the Participants for any claims, loss or damage whatsoever including without limitation, any personal injury or death, that may arise from training for or during participation in the Event.
Participants are strongly encouraged to consult their medical practitioner prior to registration and before the actual race day as the Organisers will assume that Participants are certified/medically fit once the run/walk begins. All Participants shall have themselves certified fit to participate in the Event if they are unsure of their state of health.
- Race Packs
At the point of registration, Participants will be notified of the date and designated collection venue of race packs/t-shirts. The collection of the race packs/t-shirts will be arranged by the business segment coordinators, who will be contacting the Participants with more information at a later date.
There will be no registration or collection of race pack/t-shirts by Participants on the actual Event day.
- Race Bibs
Participants are required to fill in their personal cum medical particulars at the back of their assigned number bibs and wear the number bibs on their chest at all times during the run/walk. Any number tag/race bib which is defaced will disqualify the Participant from participating in the Event. Race bibs are non-transferable. Selling or trading of bib numbers is strictly not allowed.
- Race Timings
ChampionChip Timing System is used for the event to provide race timing for all competitive categories. All competitive runners must wear the allocated Championchip properly in order to have race timing. The ChampionChip is a disposable item. Participants need not return the chip to the Organiser. Participants who wear the Championchip incorrectly or not at all or are not recorded at one of the finishing point will not receive a finishing time or results.
- Start of Event
Participants shall be ready for the Event 30 minutes before the official flag-off time stated in the programme. An announcement to all Participants will be made 30 minutes before the official flag-off time stated in the programme. Participants who arrive after the official flag-off time will be disqualified and will not be allowed to participate in the run/walk for safety reasons.
Participants in the ‘Run’ category are to start in front of Participants in the ‘Walk’ category. All Participants are required to follow the official flag-off time and must not start the race earlier.
- During the Event
Pets, bicycles, in-line skates, push carts, shoes with built-in or attached rollers and any other wheel-run objects are not allowed on the route other than official/authorised Event and medical vehicles. Prams and push chairs are allowed during the walk.
- End of Event
All Participants of the Event will start and finish at different points and must complete the designated route. Participants must not take optional or shortened routes. Alteration of route is not allowed.
- Event Route
The Organisers reserve the right to amend the Event route as they deem fit for the safety of the Participant and/or to prevent any potential hazards in the running of the Event, at any time without prior notice to the Participant. In such cases, every effort will be made to inform the Participant prior to the day / date of the Event. The Organisers shall not be liable for any other loss or inconvenience caused due to such changes.
- Cancellation of Event
The Organisers reserves the right to cancel the Event at any time without prior notice to the Participant, in which case they will make reasonable effort to inform the Participant prior to the date of the Event. If the Event has to be cancelled, there shall be no refund of fees paid and the Organisers shall not be liable for any other loss or inconvenience caused.
In the event of bad weather, Participants could expect delays to the start of the Event. However, should bad weather continue, the Organisers, at its sole discretion, reserves the right to cancel the Event.
- Individual 10km Run category
Participants can sign up for the following Run categories
- Individual Runners – age 18 to 54
- Veteran Runners – age 55 and above
- Team 10km Run category
Each team must comprise of five runners. All the runners must complete for 10 km run route for their total timing to be eligible and the total timing of all five runners will be used.
- 5km Walk category
This is open to all Participants.
- Use of photographs and videos from the Event
The Organisers reserve the right to use any photographs (including those of Participants), motion picture, recording, or any other media record of the Event, for any legitimate purpose, including commercial advertising.
- Changes to Rules and Regulations
All Rules and Regulations are subject to interpretation by the Organisers whose decision shall be final. The Organisers reserve the right to amend any of the Rules and Regulations without prior notice.
